Design Regulation Task Force Report Rich Braziel & Rob Thalmann
The task force is no longer trying to complete this work by the end of the construction moratorium. We are discussing each item, looking at existing zoning regulations, reviewing neighborhood input, learning about experiences of other neighborhoods with similar issues and listening to the experts at the City. We are trying to identify things that we believe the neighborhood at large will support that will also protect the character of Silver Hill that we all love. Once we have moved through the items the City will identify the best method of achieving, and write up proposed changes, and develop drawing/pictures to allow us to all understand what is being proposed. This will be presented to the task force for a final review and minor modifications.
After the task force agrees that the recommendations are ready, a public meeting will be scheduled to present the recommendations and get input from the neighborhood. Additional modifications will be made based on the response from the neighborhood.
When the SHNA Board, the Design Review Task Force, and the City agree the recommendations are ready to move forward they will be presented to the City for action. That process will include at least 4 additional public meetings.
Because this work is going to take longer than initially anticipated, the City is seeking additional funding for the consultants who are working with the Design Review Task Force.
